
The new Orbit+ IDS version 4.4, with migrated SAP ECC 6.0 interface, was released on 18 May. In the new release of Orbit+ IDS a set of standard web services interfaces are built in as part of the IDS engine, with additional SAP adapters to integrate with the latest version of SAP.

The March 2012 release of Nauticus Machinery contains new calculation tools covering Baltic (FSICR) and Polar Ice Class Rules, among more than 250 new features that are implemented. “This is a major release with many important upgrades, including a new Propeller Blade tool and improved user interfaces and solvers,” says principal software engineer Jo Øvstaas.

With the release of GeniE 6.1, there are many significant new features, including the control of finite element numbering of beam models, new functionality for importing wave load data from old versions of Sesam and Sacs, the ability to model tension and compression elements and to completely disconnect X-joints, and improved automatic backup, just to mention a few.

Maros version 8.3 and Taro Refinery version 4.3 have been released and are available for download from the DNV Software Customer Portal.

DNV is launching new design software for ultimate strength and fatigue analysis of offshore wind turbine structures - Sesam GeniE Wind. Building on 40 years as a leading design tool for engineering floating and fixed offshore structures, the new Sesam module uniquely addresses the wind industry’s need to model the combined effect of wind and wave loads.

The Sesam 2011 release attracted much attention at the DNV Software Conference for Sesam on 7-9 November in Hangzhou, China, where representatives from the major maritime and ocean engineering research institutes, yards and design companies attended.

Orbit+ IDS, the comprehensive plant integrity management software produced by DNV Software, has been developed and implemented around the world starting with the major releases 2.3, 2.4 and 2.5 on windows platform. The new release of Orbit+ IDS 4.30 fully running on Web was released 15 October 2011.

The Sesam 2011 DVD is a major release of several Sesam applications. It contains many new features that will lead to improved efficiency and opens for additional analysis work not possible in previous versions. Sesam now fully supports Windows 7 in addition to Windows XP and Windows Vista.

Earlier this year INEOS ABS, Ohio, USA implemented our Orbit+ IDS software with the standard package including Orbit Onshore, integration with Risk Based Inspection assessment and interface with SAP.

This is a significant update to the Phast product suite containing many improvements as well as a new Study Manager utility for combining risk results from multible studies.

DNV has acquired Synergi Solutions and enlarges its present software portfolio extensively together with 30 new employees. “We are now able to provide the most complete set of risk based software for operational integrity management and asset integrity to the energy, maritime and healthcare industries,” says Are Føllesdal Tjønn, managing director at DNV’s software house.

With the June 2011 release Nauticus Machinery provides a unified environment for all calculation tools, with several re-designed tools and new features introduced.

Earlier this year, the Institute of Engineering & Ocean Technology (IEOT), Mumbai, the technical services wing of India’s largest corporation, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), has placed an order on DNV Software for upgrading and expanding their existing suite of Sesam software.

Ninety participants came from across Europe to the annual two-day DNV Software User Conference at Høvik early this month. They learned about new features in Sesam and Nauticus, attended workshops, gave feedback based on user experience and strengthened ties with colleagues in the industry.

DNV Software held a two day open training course in Shanghai and a one day seminar at the Nor-Shipping exhibition in Oslo in connection with the upcoming Nauticus Machinery summer release.

Earlier this year, DNV Software opened a brand new customer portal for Safeti users, where customers could download software, user manuals and access an extensive documentation library. Now the service is being extended to include customers with maintenance contracts for the product lines: Sesam, Nauticus and Safeti.

The new versions of DeepC, GeniE and HydroD focus on providing more flexibility in performing design analyses and on giving our users more advanced analysis options to fine-tune the design. We have increased Sesam’s coverage to also include design of umbilicals.

With the April 2011 release Nauticus Machinery is supporting both 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows XP and Windows 7, and the reporting features are in compliance with Microsoft Office 2010.

GeniE users will have the benefit of some new important features, such as FEM import, beam deflections and property update for the mesh, included in the current 5.3 release.

With the January 2011 release Nauticus Hull is supporting both Windows 7 and Vista and all spreadsheets and report functionality is upgraded for compliance with Office 2007 and 2010.

Several significant improvements have been released during the second quarter of 2010. Increased knowledge of the modelling capabilites within the software was the outcome for 25 Phast and Phast Risk users attending the Phast advanced modelling course in Beijing from 1-4 June. This was the first advanced Phast Risk course to be held in China, and the participants were key customers from SINOPEC, CNPC and CNOOC.

About 50 software users from major shipyards, universities and institutes in Korea and Japan attended the Sesam workshop in Korea.

The introduction of a Rule Engine in ORBIT+ Pipeline has opened a wide range of possible functions augmenting the totality of the system, ranging from portfolio assessments and initial prioritizations to direct assessment functions for both piggable and unpiggable pipelines.

The demand is mainly driven by increased focus on environmental issues, life extension on aging structures and the need for key performance indicators to ensure safe operation and reduce the overall asset risk exposure.

With the implementation of CSR Tank in GeniE, Nauticus Hull users benefit from one finite element platform covering both the DNV rules and IACS common structural rules. The PULS buckling check for plated structures is also an important enhancement for analysis of offshore structures making code checks for framed and plated structural elements available within the same analysis.

In March, DNV Software delivered an on-site course, named “Concept based FE modeling and analysis jacket and topside design”, to SMOE in Singapore, 15 days before closing the deal for the Sesam software purchase, reconfirming DNV's leading position in the offshore engineering software technology market. DNV introduced its first Sesam software more than 40 years ago and has been the industry's technology pioneer since then.

By leveraging the Brix Rule Engine, Orbit+ Pipeline can deliver customer-specific rule sets with no programming effort. The approach is used for screening large amounts of data for threats, damages and failures.

Mumbai and 1st and 2nd December 2009 will surely hold a special significance for DNV Software in the years to come. It was in this commercial capital of India and during these two days that a Software Conference was organized in India – for the first time.

After the high-profile accidents at Buncefield and Texas City, risks from gas explosions have been high on the agenda. The need for transparency is greater than ever; particular focus has been on occupied buildings and the protection they offer their occupants. The explosion extension planned for Phast 6.6 provides new functionality supporting increased accuracy and transparency.
